This interview was recorded live via Zoom & Facebook Live by Chip McCarter. He is interviewing Mrs. Vicky Parker of Waco's Bestyett Catering. She tells us how long she's been in business, types of catering services, and little bit about filling out the SBA Economic Disaster Relief Loan. Please, watch the interview and let us know what you think.
This interview was done March 28, 2020. For some dang blasted reason I kept skipping over this file while trying to make sure I've been getting everyone's interview posted to Facebook, YouTube, and The Waco Review.
So, here we have Brent Pick of Sandlot Woodworks talking about his products. He makes baseball and ring holders in the shape of Home Plate. It's pretty cool, especially if you have a youngster playing ball every year. Mr. Pick can also build just about anything else you would like him to build, and for a better price than the retail stores. Give him a call or message on Facebook. The Olive Branch is a breakfast, lunch, and catering service located at the River Square Center. Owner/Manager Leah Stewart started this restaurant in 2003 when she bought an existing café. The restaurant hasn't always been at the River Square Center, but it has always been in Waco. Mrs. Stewart said she has constantly evolved The Olive Branch to keep customers coming. Over the years she says she has had to change recipes, make her own recipes, modernize, and sty up to date in the latest trends in dining.
I mentioned that The Olive Branch serves breakfast and lunch, and does catering. Over the past year Mrs. Stewart started producing personal chef meals and her catering service has grown. She says probably about 85% of her business is catering, but that service is currently shut down due to the stay at home policies that are in place. However, The Olive Branch is still making food everyday. There is no daily menu at the moment, but you can check and see what meals are available and you won't have to cook this evening. You can pick up a prepared frozen meal, a bottle of wine, and fresh rolls or croissants. Their bakery is fabulous. Mrs. Stewart says she hopes that in the near future, she wants lines out the door and catering trucks running full-time. Recently she has had two events in April cancelled that had over 600 plus people that were going to be in attendance. So, hopefully when this coronavirus scare is over with, The Olive Branch will be back to making great food and memories. While the stay in place policy is in effect, The Olive Branch does deliver. So, if you are missing your favorite restaurant, give The Olive Branch a call and get that food delivered. Curbside menu attached below. On Friday March 20, 2020 @7:00pm Chip McCarter interviewed Caitlin Delgado the owner of Aniston Lane & CMDesigns, via Zoom on Facebook Live. Chip and Mrs. Delgado began by speaking about Aniston Lane first, a custom gift shop offering gifts and pretty things for everyone in the family! They offer customizable cups for kids and adults, sturdy everyday tumblers and mugs, unique tote bags and make up bags, gifts for wedding party guests including brides, bridesmaids, flower girls, ring bearers and parents, pre-made or customized gift boxes, personalized items for families on the go such as sippy cups and snack containers, and so much more. Wow! That is quite an inventory. The custom gift shop is currently on Etsy here, and Mrs. Delgado spoke about how she is currently planning to turn that into an eCommerce website soon. Oh, and all of these items' designs are Handmade! There is no other fancy company making these designs for her products. She wants everyone to remember that Easter is coming and she looks forward to fulfilling your orders as soon as possible.
Mrs. Delgado's other business is CMDesigns, a wedding and event planning company that specializes in thorough and informative planning, and seamless day of coordinating. With over nine years of experience, Mrs. Delgado says she also offers honest and insightful vendor recommendation and help with budgeting, full service design help, invitations and stationary and more! Mrs. Delgado wants to help design every couples dream wedding, by mixing in a bit of the couples' story and personality. Recently, several brides for the next 8-10 weeks rescheduled their weddings due to the coronavirus issues our country has been facing. Mrs. Delgado says CMDesigns has been very accepting of the brides needing to re-schedule and still wants to help those brides see their special day come true. Some brides had to re-schedule their wedding for several months away. Anyone who has been married knows the stresses of having to push your wedding day further than you planned. I'm really glad to hear our local businesses are doing everything they can to continue business in these trying times. Mrs. Delgado and her two businesses are adapting and changing her schedule to help meet the needs of her customers. If you need wedding planning services along with the unique designs she has, give her a call, email, or Facebook message and see what options she has for you. Everyone does. Recently, I visited several furniture stores looking for a new bedroom suite. The one I have is over 15 years old and I decided to upgrade my bed to a king, so of course I needed the whole suite. My wife and I visited several "Discount", "Going out of Business", or "Closeout" locations. Luckily we had visited Home Zone Furniture first. We seen their pricing and their deals, so when we were shopping around we knew what kind of prices we wanted to stay within. Upon entering Home Zone Furniture, I was immediately greeted by Bill. He's a nice well motivated young man looking to help. I told him what I was looking for and he pointed out where the bedroom suites were and said if I had questions to just holler. He wasn't like your particular car salesman, that stands there while you look at every make and model of beds trying to figure out its features. Personally, I like being left alone while I'm trying to shop and decide what kind of things I want in a product. After, I finished looking around and getting a good idea of what I liked, I asked Bill about their sale they had going on and when did it end. He gave me a flyer and his business card and I told him I'd give it some thought. After that was when I did the shopping around for the next day or two. I couldn't find what I was looking for in those "Bargain" places and their prices weren't nearly as good as Home Zone Furniture. So, back to them the wife and I went. Upon arrival at the store this time, we were met by Xavier. He was just as young and motivated as his co-worker. Xavier said he thought we looked familiar and asked if we had already been working with someone. We told him we had been met by Bill previously and he assisted us with our questions. But, this particular day, Bill was not scheduled to work. Xavier stepped right in and helped us with our purchase of our new King Size Fort Worth Bedroom Suite. Our suite was scheduled to be delivered in three days. When the delivery guys showed up, they brought everything in covered in blankets to protect my new furniture as best as possible. They set-up the bed and placed the other items where I directed and was gone as quickly as they could. I am very happy with the service and quality of products I received at Home Zone Furniture. Enough so, that I'm am here righting this entry. If you or someone you know needs new furniture, y'all should definitely check them out. Ask for Bill or Xavier.
